13.1. SA Federal Aggravated Assault Act

Aggravated assault involves the intentional infliction of serious injury, or the use of a deadly weapon with the intent to cause harm. This includes assault with firearms or other dangerous instruments.

Penalty: Up to 20 years imprisonment, and mandatory sentencing if the assault involved law enforcement officers, minors, or was a hate crime.
